Windows 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10 internet problems

Hi everybody, sorry if I am not allowed to post this and this is against the rules but I am having a big problem. I just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 via the force update on their site. I downloaded the 64 bit version. Since the upgrade my internet isn't working! It says ethernet does not have a valid ip configuration. My internet was working just fine before I made the upgrade and I did not touch it at all. Can somebody help me out?

    Thanks.

Same issue with me - been trying to find a solution for a few hours. Wifi still works... the best evidence I've found says my computer is faulty, but the wired connection worked just fine before I upgraded - has not worked since. What's worse, I downgraded back to 8.1 to try and get it working again... but it still doesn't work!

    I've tried:
    1) releasing and renewing ip
    2) Disabling and re-enabling ethernet
    3) A different cord (works just fine in another computer, by the way)
    4) Uninstalling driver and restarting computer
    5) Uninstalling virus protection in the hopes something was blocking it
    6) Restarting the wired LAN autoconfig service
    7) Re-installing the LAN driver directly from the CD that came with my motherboard

Finally figured it out - I'd reinstalled Windows 10 (no reason not to... ethernet wasn't working back in 8.1 either).

In my case, I just needed to download and install the Windows-10 supported chipset from my motherboard's manufacturer.

That was really annoying - not sure why it didn't work when I went back to 8.1, but it had to be related.
