    As explained even if you login to the pc as a different user the profile folder will deny you access setup a dedicated folder for sharing. You can map a drive if you provide credentials for a user on the pc with rights the problem is yours not providing the right username password by default
    If you need to use a different set of credentials to connect to the shared folder, check the Connect using different credentials box

    Thanks, Samuria. When I attempt to map a network drive, Windows shows me the two shared computers on my network, but when I then try to select a listed folder, I get the same message window as in message #10 above. Everything I've tried so far produces that same message window.

    Yes, although I log on automatically. My account has full administrative rights.

    I checked all accounts with "WMIC useraccount list full" in an elevated command prompt, and I see nothing unusual there. I get the feeling something's broken, but sfc /scannow, chkdsk /F, and DISM are OK. Everything else works just fine.
