    Hi there
ensure that IPV4 is being used -- not sure if XP even with service pack 3 applied. can use IPV6.

Otherwise there shouldn't be any problem whatsoever - can your XP machine for example see phone / tablet etc. In some cases networking actually works BETTER on XP than W10. !!! --Try also switching firewalls OFF and don't make any Home groups. Also enable sharing and network discovery --ensure networks are NOT set to 'public and I think XP doesn't like 128 bit encryption - set in networking properties,

I use an XP VM regularly --have studio and Vinyl record cutting gear / software running on it and have no probs with XP seeing rest of my network which is a mix of Windows 10, Linux NAS servers, tablet and two phones. I don't though connect XP to the external Internet.

Since the computers are all still visible to each other by IP, I just worked around it by creating a shortcut on the Desktop with either of the following in the Location entry:

    Explorer \\COMPUTERNAME or Explorer \\IPADDRESS (e.g. Explorer \\
