    programs cannot connect to internet

Only my opera web browser can connect to the Internet with no problems. Other web browsers and programs will not connect - security software, windows store, wunderlist, windows update.

Running all the troubleshooters, the only message to come up is "the remote device or resource will not accept connection".

I have no idea how to fix this. i tried searching this forum and others and have not found a solution - other then reinstalling windows/system restore.

Hi HiddenArmadillo. Welcome to the TenForums @HiddenArmadillo

First power off your router, wait 20 seconds reconnect.

On your computer try a Network Reset. Start => Settings => Network and Internet => scroll to bottom of right hand side => Network Reset

This will cause your wireless passwords to be forgotten and you may need to set up VPN or other custom networking products, if installed.

If that doesn't work try these four commands.

Run the following four bolded commands. Use a Command Prompt(admin) or Powershell(admin)
Do not key in info in brackets, there for your information.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)

Still only Opera web browser connects to internet

The network reset did not work, nor did the command prompts. Only the web browser opera works. i cannot get other programs to connect including other web browsers.

    What firewalls are you using?

Does this same behaviour occur in Safe Mode or a Clean Boot?

I am just using windows firewall. I checked that and all the programs I want to use have access. I will try safe boot/clean boot next.

To get to safe boot I would hold shift key down and click restart. This will cause the Advance Startup Options to appear.

I tried safe mode and clean boot and still only opera worked.

I do not know what else to try other than ‘reset this pc’ setting or taking it somewhere.

Or doing a factory reset on it. Other issues are minor and I can live with them.

open a cmd prompt then type

    tracert 194.119.131.66

    post results

Please download and save FRST 64bit or FRST 32 bit to your Desktop. We need both files it produces

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST.exe

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST64.exe

Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Make sure that Addition option is checked.
    Press Scan button.
It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
Please copy and paste log back .
The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe).
