Windows 10 Dialer - A way to log outbound calls?

    Hi all,

Pretty new here, so I hope this is in the right place.

We've recently started using the inbuilt dialer on a Windows 10 machine at work. This is so we can dial from SAP Business one using the click 2 dial feature.

It works fine, connects to the hard phone etc (Would be nice to have more options but I guess it's old tech) however it does not seem to log any outbound calls or generate a log. I've searched high and low on Google regarding this issue but I have no results.

I was wondering if anybody knew if I was just wasting my time and that's just how it is on Windows 10. I did find on one forum that on an XP S3 machine it did the following:

    Dialer : %PROGRAM FILES%\Windows NT\dialer.exe
    Log File : \Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\App Data\Microsoft\Dialer\user_call_log.txt
possible log customize at: Logging : HKCU->Software->Microsoft->Dialer->Logging

I cannot find this file or log anywhere on the Windows 10 machine.

If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be very much appreciated!

If you use a third party program or have the logs set to show in event viewer. The built in dialer is meant for dial-up modems and a fax board, not really for voice calls. You need to use something like Outlook or another CRM to get full advantage, instead of just a event.

Ah I see, that's a shame. I assume the log file from the previous version of Windows is related to dial-up and faxes also?

Do you happen to know how to log them as an event? Even that would do, just to get a rough estimate of how many calls/times the program is being used.

Edit: I've been looking for a third party program myself but it seems this type of setup is becoming obsolete. I found phonedialerpro which doesn't appease the hierarchy due to it being what they call "freeware".

Dial from Windows to a hardphone is proving to be a nightmare.

No shame about it. You are trying to do something without the proper software to log what you are doing. Use a CRM and you can keep track of who you call and log that call. There are plenty of free CRM tools that work that have been around for ages, including Chrome Apps.

No I agree, was just hoping for something simple.

I personally work in credit control, so it's more make the call and get out rather than a full CRM suite.

They use an old DOS system called Telemagic which is a standalone system. I'll just look into SAP activities more.

    Appreciate the help and feedback!

Hi there. You may want to look into Skype. It logs and a lot more. Even record calls.
