    Hi Eagle51,

    I disabled the Server service some time ago for 1 I don't use file print sharing over a network and 2 as form of an additional security layer.

    I'm still under the belief that the State: Shared icons on those folders are due to sharing between multiple or 1-2 user accounts of the same machine, can this not be? I can't see how this can be linked to other networked computers because I have most network sharing features disabled...

    @Kol12,

    Open File Explorer. In the left pane scroll down to Network and click on that. What results do you get? That is where you will find folders that are shared over the network.

    Also another check is to open a run dialog box (Win + R} and run:
    \\<computer-name>

    Put your computer name in place of <computer-name>. That will show you the shared folders even if it doesn't show up under Network in FIle Explorer.

    Neither the Doc, Download or Picture folders have sharing tabs in properties just security tabs. Now that I think of it I'm running from a standard user account but I frequently access these (my) folders from the administrator account. I'm guessing these folders would have initially needed admin privileges granted to them and that's how they became shared?
    If you don't want those folders shared between your Admin & User Accounts or with anyone else, you need to re-enable the Sharing Tab and stop sharing them.

    @NavyLCDR

    When I click on Network in File Explorer I get error message "Network discovery is turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Please turn on network discovery in Network and Sharing Center."

    Hi Eagle51,

    I did not say that I don't want those folders shared between the admin and user accounts, quite the opposite. I access those user accounts folders from the admin account frequently. All I wondered was if this would cause the State: Shared icon to appear on those folders...
