Every time I started my computer, my wi-fi adapter would connect to the wi-fi network automatically. But now, I have to enter the password and connect manually every time I login to my computer. Even if I check "Connect Automatically" it doesn't help.

First thing I would do, power off router, count to 25, power on. Restart your computer.
If you could confirm the status of this service please.
Windows key + S, types in Services, the services app should come to top of list. Click.
When the Services open scroll down to WLAN Auto Config.
The startup type should be "Automatic".
If not right click, select properties and make it so.
Next I would do a complete Network Reset. Your wireless passwords will be erased.
Start=>Settings=>Network & internet=> scroll down right hand side, at the bottom, Reset Network.

It could be something as simple as the router's WiFi password having been changed and your connection is still trying to connect with the old one. If so, in 'Settings > WiFi > Manage known networks' tell it to 'Forget' the existing connection then set up a new one with the new password.
Sorry, what didn't work.
Did you check setting on that service I listed and did you reset network?
I would also power off router, count to 25 and power up. Not likely router but it's a simple thing to check.

I'm glad these old threads are kept and indexed by the Ten Forums search engine!
Every now and then, I start my laptop and don't see my wi-fi network, or any others.
After finding this thread, I found that my WLAN Auto Config service was set to "manual" start.
The service would for some reason start with the laptop most times, but not sometimes. Very strange.
Even though Microsoft says the default status for this service is 'Manual start", I've changed it to Automatic start, as you suggested.
My laptop now finds and auto-connects to my home wi-fi every time.
