    Ping question

    I think there's something wrong with my ping.

    Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

    Looks correct to me. A round trip time of 0ms is what you'd expect for pinging 127.0.0.1 - it's the localhost, your own machine. I'd be worried if it showed anything other than an instant response!

    For measurable round trip times try pinging something else, your router perhaps...

    ping 192.168.1.254
    Pinging 192.168.1.254 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 192.168.1.254: bytes=32 time=4ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.254: bytes=32 time=4ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.254: bytes=32 time=4ms TTL=64
    Reply from 192.168.1.254: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
    Ping statistics for 192.168.1.254:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 4ms, Average = 3ms
    Or for something further away, try: ping TenForums.com

    It's better than I get, but then I have an ocean to cross to see that server :) Looks perfectly normal to me.

    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 136ms, Maximum = 144ms, Average = 139ms

    What is it that concerns you? Why are you testing ping?

    I don't play, but if you are getting a slow response in the game you should be pinging the server your game uses. The round trip time consists of two components, the routing that connects you to the server and the time it takes the serve to respond to a ping request. Tracert is another command you can try that shows you the routing and the time of each step.

    For what I can gather from Google the main complaint is a slow menu. There are many threads about that on the Battlefield forum that may help. Here's one...

    not really slow response but lagging and server disconnects

    As I said, I don't play. Perhaps another who does will come along. In the mean time, there are threads about that on the Battlefield forum too.

    Edit: there seem to be some solutions on page 4 of that thread.
