Setting up a wired connection, "network cable unplugged" error showing

    Hello

Today I bought a Ethernet cable to use however I am having problems setting it up. I've updated my driver for 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' and I have followed some guides and threads on the internet, but nothing I have tried has worked.

I have attached a copy of the error I am getting, the cable is plugged into my computer and my internet router, so I'm really puzzled why the error says the cable is unplugged.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    JonesBell

Welcome to the forum. Does the port on the router show a light for the port the PC? Some ports on PCs have a light when a cable is plugged in does yours show that? You are plugging from PC to router LAN port

No light is showing on the router, nor is a light showing on my PC - I don't think I have one. I am plugging from my PC to a Virgin Media Hub, is that considered a router?

Nothing changes when I plug in the cable on my PC but remove it from the router.

I'm not sure how I just fixed it, I turned off my computer and took the wire out my PC and Internet hub and started my computer. I then removed my wireless dongle and put the wire back in my PC and Internet Hub and it immediately worked.

Very puzzling, but I am glad it is working now. Thank you again for the help!
