    Comcast

    Hello
I have a gateway from Comcast which has a router within.
I noticed the SSID was different so I went to the router and it was open without using my password. The set up appeared different too. I had typed 10.0...... and it opened to my account without using a password.

I changed the the password and the key and logged out then reset all my devices.

1- Most likely, could Comcast do this or was I hacked?
I am leery about calling Comcast in case they can mess with my side of the router and will do it again.

2- should I get my own router and bridge theirs?

    Thank you
    Peter

PS I used to click in the lower right corner and it would say us2 which is my ssid but now it just says private network. I think they did an overhaul so does this sound right that I cannot get the name within the router and just private network from the ethernet connection?

Sounds like your router was reset. I think Comcast could have upgraded the firmware and reset your device. But I am only guessing.

Do any of you want to lend an opinion about using the ISP router or your own?

Are there any Comcast users who know about their gateway and their router?

I notice there is a section that stops remote admin management. But if I stop it there is work to be done I don't understand.
    Any ideas?
