Network shortcut lasts only for session

I have a 5-system LAN with each system having a shared folder. On each desktop are shortcuts to 4 shared folders on the other 4 systems. However, 1 shortcut lasts only for a session. On SystemB, My Computer shows SystemC, which when double-clicked, shows shared folder xyzC. So far so good.
However, when I create a shortcut on SystemB's desktop to shared folder xyzC on System C, that shortcut lasts only for the session. On reboot of SystemB, the shortcut is invalid. I don't have this problem with any other shortcut to shared folders.

What exactly is in the shortcut's properties for the Target path?

You need to make shortcut by IP not name as it takes time for the name to be resolved hence the problem

    cmart,

To post in this thread, look at the bottom of the page and type in the box that looks like this

I think you will need to log in to an Admin user account in order to resolve your network issue.
If that is not possible, please explain what is getting in your way.

And I'd still like to know what is in that shortcut's Target property. Depending on what is in it, the solution to your problem might take about 5 seconds.

I might well have to ask you to check each step of your network setup. This is the checklist I use.

    All the best,
And thanks for the rep [which might have been accidental],
