Cannot install TAP software on W10 PC
I am running KIS 2017, have tried installing those VPN software client - I have a NordVPN connection & have also tried installing trials of some other VPN software client. No VPN software can be used to the lack of TAP adapter is not getting installed. I have even tried after uninstalling KIS but not there is no change in fortune.
I cannot install the TAP software even after uninstalling KIS.
Saw some posts that Windows 10 often has problems related to TAP adapter.
In my case ( see 4th screenshot) the ComponentID is already present and its value is set to PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&REV_06
I have the same problem but did some checking and I found out that there is a registry entry missing on my computer
Open entry as follows:
- I dont know if the guid is always the same but the last id can be diffrent for sure
- You can open atleast the class key and the just use find data: TAP-Windows Adapter V9
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001
if you have more than one tap adapters then you have to add this for all of them
In this key add the REG_SZ entry:
ComponentId: tap0901
This worked for me
In my device manager there is no TAP adapter. Please help me as I am not able to use VPN software
