    Endless Connectivity Problems IPv4/6

Hi, sorry for tor the confusing problem I'll explain from the beginning.

Yesterday my Ethernet (via a power line) was coming up with a yellow exclamation mark with the error of "Cannot find a valid IP configuration" I went through the entire process of trying to solve that. Whilst doing the Ipconfig /renew I got the error message saying "cannot make a connection to the DHCP." After resetting my router about 6 times, doing a system restore and wiping the settings to original in my SuperHub2 all 3 of my wired wired connections stopped working (Wi-Fi was working). I then checked each individual power line and found a fault within the main connector (the one wired to the router which feed the other 3). I was then able to get Ethernet working back on all the computers in the house except mine.

Now I am stuck with the following problem. There is no internet icon on the task bar and the option to change this within the task-bar settings is greyed out and unchangeable. It claims my Ethernet Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller is enabled, as is the "Media State" but the IPv4/6 Connectivity is "Not Connected". They are set to automatically obtain an IP address. Currently 274 packets have been sent with 11 received, though I have no idea what this means. The LAN cable works fine with this laptop i'm typing on.

I'm currently lost for ideas, I've taken the battery out of the motherboard and done the reset as recommended in there. I'm confused as to how all the issues that have occurred even relate to each other. Drivers are updated also, any help would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Lee.

Welcome to the forum. Disable ipv6 it's not used unless your using home group it can't go out to the net. Have you tried another PC into the same power line your using to check it's working Ok

Disabled with no effect. The power-lines are working fine with my laptop. I've actually just brought my entire computer downstairs and used the Ethernet direct from the router, still not working. And thanks for the Welcome and reply :) you guys were great on the sevenforums!!

    *Also disabled HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\

To completely disable IPv6, run this, do not forget to uncheck IPv6 in the network adapter.

netsh int ipv6 isatap set state disabled
netsh int teredo set state disabled
    netsh interface ipv6 6to4 set state state=disabled undoonstop=disabled
    reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters" /v "DisabledComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d "255" /f

You might also consider disabling LMHOSTS and NetBIOS, if you do not share files via LAN.

    reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters" /v "EnableLMHOSTS" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
wmic nicconfig where TcpipNetbiosOptions=0 call SetTcpipNetbios 2
wmic nicconfig where TcpipNetbiosOptions=1 call SetTcpipNetbios 2

Changing DNS is pretty much mandatory for various reasons.
