We do not need preferred band or settings for Windows Wireless Zero Config and hardware info. We need the information from the command window of netsh wlan show all. It will show the adapter bands, if it is only wireless-b/g/n 2.4 or wireless-a/b/g/n. The other is that it would show us the driver installed and hardware info.

I solved this by disabling th SSID on the 2.4ghz network as well as deleting all the old network profiles.

You might have to enable it again if you have a device that cannot use 5GHz, If you enable it again I would give it a different name I usually name my ssd's the same but add 5GHz for that band you could add 2.4GHz for yours.

I still have a problem. Disabling the 2.4ghz networks has helped me preventing windows from connecting to it, but windows has created a new problem instead. It takes several minutes for windows to connect to the internet when I boot my computer and sometimes I have to run the windows network diagnostics program and everytime I do that it finds a problem with the wireless adapter or access point and corrects it.

Uninstall the network drivers and device and let Windows install the default. Also enable the SSID for the 2.4ghz, since some wifi routers/AP's need the 2.4ghz band in conjunction with the 5ghz to allow for MIMO and faster speeds.
