How Can I Allow a DLNA Server App Through the Firewall?

Hi folks

Not sure what the problem is here

I've a mix of Windows and LINUX (NAS boxes) here -- and have no trouble detecting Multi-media devices and using to CAST /access smart TV's etc.

It is the restrictive nature of certain hotels and their captive portal when they force you to use other methods to Cast. Amazon has been really bad in not allowing Side Loading or allowing direct Cast to their products. That is the one reason why I went with the NVIDIA Shield. It can be used to cast to even if on a Captive Portal.

I swapped from the ECB360 to the EAP1750h, because of the features it has and the price dropped. I run it off of POE, with the injector downstairs with the rest of my network gear.

You actually can simulate it with a Pfsense box running with a Captive Portal.

It does look like the RP-WD01 was created more for tablets and smartphones. It is not bad for the price. I would make sure to check how their support is for the Firmware and if there is a newer version available. Also look at the other ones just in case the RP-WD01 does not work out while testing it at home.

And final the verdict is...

...SUCCESS!!!

This solution works so much better. Moreover, creating that hotspot from my PC in my previous solution did not result in the best network performance, either. My shows were very watchable; I noticed a big improvement in performance/video playback.

And I also cannot forget one very important thing: No messing around with my firewall settings to let the Fire TV Stick through!!!
