Ethernet cards don't work except from non-windows boot disk

Windows 10 -My on-board Ethernet 'card' stopped working. I added a new network card but the internet still isn’t working. So I booted the computer into a recovery CD and was able to connect to the Internet via both network cards.Do I simply go to device manager and uninstall the three network items that are listed there, or do I go to a deeper level? Disabling them and re-enabling them did nothing.
Thank you for taking the time,
    Rollo

Hi, as a wild guess you may have received a driver update that is incompatible with your card version. Have a look in Device Manager and see if you can roll back the driver.

Another option is to uninstall the driver and choose to delete it. That way you get a fresh copy.

    I gave up and re-imaged

Thanks. After several days of frustration I gave up and re-imaged the whole C Drive back to 6 weeks ago.

Excellent you're using disk imaging. However, if it were a driver update issue, you might find the problem recurs. But hopefully it won't.

Thanks Dalchina, yes I'm aware of that and I just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best!
