ok since theres no half duplex at 1gb I've switched to 100mb half duplex.

I'm not sure what the difference is between full and half duplex.

What can I do to satisfy the 1gb full duplex? I already use cat 6 cables between here and the router with all the powerline adapters being TP-Link 1200s with gigabit ports.

    Hi,

    I'll explain later.
Just trying to get it to work. After that we can see if we can get it to work at full duplex too.

    Cheers,

Indeed my speed has gone from 58mbps down to 47mbps but no disconnections so far. I'm thinking overload somewhere.

I'm leaving the machine on overnight as I have lots of files to copy over after the format so I'll be able to monitor the connection.

Will be interesting to see whether those files copy.

Might be interesting to later set the NIC connection to Auto instead of locking it to Gb just to see whether that helps as it might not be able to connect reliably at Gb speed for whatever reason.

    Hear from you later.

Sadly using either auto or set speed doesnt make much difference in this case. But at least for now I'm not getting disconnected on 100mb half duplex. Not ideal though;.

I've just had a disconnection. What was interesting was that that location bullseye that sometimes appears in systray was active at the time it happened.

    My file transfer wasn't affected.

    Darn....

Clasping at straws again - have you tried another port on the router?

Well the route from me to the router is this:

router - powerline adapter - powerline adapter - nic card

I could try a different port.
