Can you temporarily move the comp and connect it directly via ethernet cable? At least this would eliminate the power line link.

I can't really move the computer as its large and heavy and I work in my room for a living. I have moved the cable to another port on the router for a second time and also on the switch. No disconnections so far but I guess we need a longer amount of time to monitor.
Without detailed diagnostics, all we are left with is substitution.
Hope something clicks soon.
Don't honestly know what is around to log where the comms is sporadically breaking down. That's why us mere mortals usually rely on trying this and that and substituting!
Happy to learn of a tool that would help, though.
Would it be possible to temporarily run a cable to the router/switch? A 30 metre one is less than $10 on ebay.
Hi,
Plenty around:

Good list, fde.
Or a Nirsoft network tool?? http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/#network_utils
Trick would be finding the right one and then interpreting its voluminous output!
Hi,
True. Add to that that most of these tools are directed at sysadmins and can get complicated fast.Trick would be finding the right one and then interpreting its voluminous output!
Intermittent problems are always tricky to resolve anyhow.
