I came across this Thread, and saw a different date on that website to the latest version...

...apparently it's still on version 10.63, yet has a new latest "Update Time" (January 18, 2023) (updated about 4 days before this post)...
(would be nice if today's tech people can increase a version number, by any amount, to show that there is a "higher" number than the previous version's number)... BUT I could be wrong, and that the version number is actually higher than 10.63, and the web master forgot to update that number...

...haha on second thought, I notice the inconsistency there too.

    "Update Time" ... "2023/01/18"
That's a weird time. What clock do you guys use?
My clock, right now, says: Latest Realtek LAN Driver-image.png

What a weird clock they have. Do clocks in different countries differ than the ones in the United States?
    That's so weird.

I like it like that. When I read Proper English, my likeliness to purchase a product from this company dramatically jumps up. lol
... but not in the current case. I'll stick to the company of the internet device I'm currently using. =)

    Hi all,

In trying to update my LAN driver, I get "an error (-5005 : 0x80070002) has occurred while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications."

    >\KernelMedia.cpp (95)
    >setup.cpp (817)
PAPP:Realtek Ethernet Controller All-In-One Windows Driver
    PVENDOR:Realtek (首頁 - 瑞昱半導體)

    $21.0.338 @windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 Service Pack 0 (9600)
    IE Version: 9.11.19041.0

"sorry, before install this package you must remove. all-in-one installer"

Based on past experience, if I remove the driver in question as per the error message, I lose my internet connection and can't proceed. It occurred to me I should first connect wirelessly, then uninstall the all-in-one ethernet driver, THEN install the NEW LAN via the exe.

Am I on the right track? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

are you absolutely sure you are using Windows 10 or any Server variant of Win10 (like Server 2016, 2019, etc.)?
it seems the error message seem to be mentioning about "Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 Service Pack 0" - you will need a specific Win8.1 LAN driver for that version if you are not using Windows 10.

and yes you definitely need to completely remove/uninstall that "all-in-one" (AIO) Realtek lan driver package (which those kinds of drivers are issued to OEMs and the official Realtek site only offers separate "standalone" drivers for different windows versions), reboot and then install the standalone driver specific to the windows version you are using (never install/overwrite/update the LAN driver over an AIO edition)

Thanks for your reply and confirming my thought on the correct process to install. The error message from InstallShield Wizard is baffling as it acknowledges a differing Windows version.

seems like an installshield app version detection bug.
whenever I uninstall an existing/old version of a realtek lan driver and/or install a new version, I always cut off my internet connection (or unplug the ethernet/LAN network cable) - don't want Win10 to be automatically & silently downloading & installing their own version of the realtek lan driver with an active internet connection (like don't give MS an inch to install whatever driver version they want). only after installing/updating to the latest version, then I reconnect to the internet (and set ALL my internet connections to "metered")
