Unable to Add NEw Drive Mappings or even see NAS in Windows Explorer w
Hi,
I have a Synology NAS that hld all our shared data. It has numerous folders including one for backups.
Before moving to Windows 10 we had simple profiles on our PCs i.e. Phil, Teresa, Guest etc.. with corresponding User names on the NAS. The Pc profile and the NAs user had identical Names and Passwords and all was OK.
Even then sometimes you would not always see the NAS when opening Windows Explorer but rebooting the PC or logging on or off usually solved the problem.
I think it was OK when we first moved to Windows 10 but when we had the main PC rebuilt and my son setup the profiles and included the microsoft ID as part of the profile it all started to go wrong.
I now have the following situation.
I have a profile on the PC that can see only 4 of my many drive mappings.
I can no longer see the NAS as a device. I see the maim PC and any other PC that is turned on but no NAS
My wife has the same problem.
Now here is the weird bit. I then added a NEW profile on my Wife's laptop, while the PC was getting new memory. Initially I could not see the drives on this either. but I had a brain wave and created a NEW user ID on the NAS and a NEW profile on the laptop that used my Microsoft account email and BINGO I can now see all the drives of the NAS when I use this profile on the laptop.
When I changed the Profile on the Pc to be the same no change. What ever NEW ID I create, with or without a Microsoft account I get the follwoing message when I try and use that NEw profile:
The User Profile service failed the sign-in.
User profile cannot be loaded
I contacted Synology and that taled about Master browser and that my PC probably was the master browser and now its not. They said make the NAS the master browser and it should work. I did that and it DIDN'T work...
Can anyone help..
As I can not see tha NAS my backups to a share called BACKUP no longer work
