last question. You say the router establishes a connection to the wifi adapter and xfinity. So if the router connects to the PC and xfinity, what's the job of the wifi adapter? The router already connectsto xfinity.

The Router connects to PC , by means of your USB Adapter. The USB Adapter is needed to connect to the Router. And you get data in PC from xfinity thru router that sends it to your USB Adapter. And your PC send Data thru your USB Adapter to ROuter and it resents it to xfinity.

Absolutely last question. The signal route is: xfinity hotspot signal, to the router, to the wifi adapter, to the PC? So the wifi adapter no longer communicates directly with the xfinity hotspot? So on my PC, when i tell the wifi adapter to connect, it connects to the router, and no longer connects to the hotspot wifi signal? so the wifi adapter doesn't need to be particularly powerful in terms of range, because it only connects to the router, not a further away, outside hotspot? Do I have this right?

I'd be using this at home, full time. Can these things be on all day? I wonder if there are any home ones with this hotspot capability...
