Weird, I don't see how they can make those cables so cheaply. That seems odd to me.
That is not going to fix anything. The tighter the twists and heavier gauge of alloy for the wire is not going to fix anything. If you have a loose connector, you need to fix that instead of using a band-aid.
I had to go through and rip out over 200' of Ethernet in my house after I went to a 10/100/1000 network. That was because after going through and looking at the cables, the jackets were friction cut and also some conductors had bare insulation. The reason for that was when my son was tasked to pull out all of the Coax when we switched from Comcast to U-Verse.
I still have Cat-5e in my house and have no issues hitting the burst speeds between the NAS, wired and wireless gear.
I must respectfully disagree. I have a gigabit NAS on my home network that I use for media streaming and entire hard drive backups. My home network consists of 100% gigabit router, switches and network adapters. CAT 6 is essential to maintaining the speed that I want to back up 100GB of data at a time to my 6TB NAS. I use bulk CAT 6 cable from Home Depot. I can't remember how much per foot it is, I think like 23 cents/foot. 1000ft box is $145. I use the 3 piece CAT 6 Ideal brand connectors 25 for $18 and a medium grade crimping tool, about $15. I don't use wall plates with jacks, just wall plates with holes in them and feed the cable through.
It all depends on what you are going to use your network for. If you are going to use your network for 100% internet access, then Cat 5 and 100 Mbps is probably sufficient. But when you want to transfer 2 GB movie files and 100 GB hard drive backups - you want Gigabit Ethernet equipment and Cat6 cables and connectors.
If you Can't understand the price of those cables, perhaps these may give your mind a little WTF Moment ...

I have used a few of these type of cables in industry and it's always best if possible to get these professionally pre-assembled but of course if you have a complex run you may have to assemble on site and that can be a $^%$& of a job,
Interestingly these are all 5e rating as it's normal to go Fibre optic for higher speed usage
When your plant costs you Thousands, (or millions), of Pounds, (or dollars), per hour when it's not working you will spend quite a bit on reliable Hardware and connectivity
I remember a case when one of our engineers was called out to a fault at a steel mill during the night, he arrived to be told that he could not proceed into the mill as he did not have the correct documents - Our engineer suggested he called his plant engineer,
the security man did this and was told to a, let him through , b, pay the company the £20,000 an hour it would cost waiting for the paperwork, and/or go to personnel at the end of his shift to organise his leaving his job
