Same as if they are a part of the motherboard, you can check the Bios to make sure that they did not somehow get disabled in the bios. Pretty simple stuff.
My Acer laptop has a Phoenix Bios, network boot is enabled, which doesn't surprise me, Windows Explorer sees all the connection, just won't let me aboard.

Okay, when Windows 10 was first installed we (W10 and I) somehow changed my username to my email address, don't remember why, so now I can log in to my other computers.

One of my other computers received the AU last night and it works just fine, can log into my Ubuntu box just fine. So I brought the Acer up to my office and connected to the network via cat 5 instead of WiFi and was able to connect to Ubuntu.

Disconnected the cat 5, turned WiFi back on and rebooted, no access to Ubuntu, now this is getting to be complicated, my Acer is normally in my workshop, so there's a range extender half way between my office and shop. Connected to my office WiFi I can access Ubuntu, connected to range extender I can't, Windows Explorer sees it but won't connect, "Location is not available". Time to contact D-Link.

    Thanks everyone, for your help.

I don't know if the problem you're having is like the problem I had earlier today but if it is, then this video is a lifesaver!

Spent over an hour with D-Link without a solution to the problem of accessing my Ubuntu computer, don't know if it's a Windows 10 AU problem or a combination of AU and Acer Aspire, so I've given up, the fact that I can get to my other computers is really all I need.

Network Boot is if you are using it as a Thin Net Client. You need to see if the onboard network chipsets are enabled in the bios.

You are running yourself in circles. D-Link cannot answer the question to the problem because they are script readers in another country. This is not a Gateway issue, it is that single computer that the Network devices are disabled in either the bios or if the Gateway is set for MAC ID to allow or not allow computers to connect, that can also cause issues.

Try reseting the Gateway and see if that fixes it.

I'm sure you are correct about the tech support people, but I've been helped by them before so I gave it a shot, I was hoping there was a conflict with AU and D-Link. We did reset the extender to factory default and reinstall it to my router, if that's resetting the Gateway, it didn't work.

As mentioned in Post 15, I've given up, it was the other computers I was concerned with and it turned out to be mostly my mistake

We are always correct about the so called support people for equipment, same as at Best Buy. You have the best support here on this forum. The troubleshooting is the hardest part when you are frustrated and do not know how to pin point. That is why we always ask first if a user has checked bios, Gateway/Access Point.

Linux Live CD/DVD allows us to confirm if it is a Bios, hardware or gateway related issue. Since the problem on that machine is the same with both OS's, then you should just do a Reset of the Gateway, which flushes the IP Table and removes any other types of restrictions on it.
