Redstone PC's are invisible in the network

Since I have updated to the anniversary update, I cant see my pc's with Windows 10 anymore on the network. On the other hand I can see ALL my pc's from the Windows 10 computer. I had no problems before the update. I have a shared partition on each Redstone PC which I can't access anymore from my Windows 7 machines...

If there was a similar thread about it already, I apologize, I could not find it. I went through every network and sharing setting I could find but nothing helped...

If running any third party security software, always check that first. No one has had an issue at this point with SMB/CFS refusing to allow computers running Anniversary to be seen by other computers.

Never mind. I found the problem. At first I was sure it affected all my windows 7 machines but actually it was only one. Somehow the Netbios setting was turned off instead to be set as "default". Problem solved, I can now see any computer with any windows system from any computer in my network and also can access them...

    Thanks for the help nevertheless...

Always the little things that we never think of. Watch out on Anniversary changing certain toggles in the System Settings. I ran into that when I set say Background processes to not run. Somehow Windows 10 Anniversary decided to change it back.

I just remembered something. Opening up Fire Explorer is like running Windows 7 and Vista again. It is taking way too long for explorer to cache the info an have it snappy like the Windows 10 threshold had kept it at with the firs version.

I do like the fact that you can use a local account and in System Settings, put in your Live account for only the Store and a few other minor things.

I really did not see much change in performance on my laptop and my wife's sine it was installed. Now of course switching from Windows on a laptop with a Samsung 850 evo 3D 120gb, did improve access from the SSD then the previous SSD I had in it.

    Hi there

I thought NETBIOS was deprecated in latest W10 networking -- I could be wrong but I didn't have any problem with W10 anniversary seeing other computers (including Linux machines).

After intital boot W10 might take a few minutes (could be as much as 10) before it seems to get "Seen" and acessible on a LAN.

    Cheers

I thought so also Jimbo, since Microsoft is trying to retool their model and slowly making the Pro & Home edition to become one in the same. There should only be two versions of Windows. One as a Pro for both desktops and the Surface style lablets, and Enterprise for schools and businesses.
