I don't have a Dell PC and I never looked up anything re Dell!
My Network connection is "NAME"-PC with a "Users" sub folder that contains the usual "Default, etc. sub folders.
The other folder GX620-5TXZCB1 has absolutely nothing to do with my PC!
Please post an explorer view of the folder in question so the creation date is shown.
Please update the Systems Specs in your forum profile with complete information.
- In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field. The specific model number is important - there are often many models of a given series.
For example, my machine is a HP Pavilion dv6, but there are tens of the dv6 series, so dv6-6c10us is the specific model.
- Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.
The easiest way to do this is to use the information from a PUBLISHED Speccy report.
See: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs
Post the link to the report that Speccy gives you and also open the Speccy link.
Then click here to view your System Specs on this forum.
When you have both windows open, put them side-by-side and simply copy the information, field by field, from the Speccy report to your System Specs.
To see what information other members provide in their System Specs, click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member.
Thanks
How do I fill out my system specs?
There doesn't seem to be a way to type anything in.
You have to be logged in, then click on this: User CP >Edit System Spec
The global forum link takes you directly to your profile.
OK, filled it out.
As to the explorer view, there is no creation date. See attachment.
Thanks, the image helps identify where you are seeing this.
Please expand GX620 and post another image.
Please post the link to your Speccy. (post# 13)
If you want to remove Network completely from the navigation pane:

If you want to remove Homegroup completely from the navigation pane:

If you need a network reference on the navigation pane, please describe your network setup.
I've attached the expanded view.
I don't want to remove the network completely and I don't want to remove the home group.
I just want to remove that darn GX folder.
It is not a folder, it is a device on your network or a ghost from when you were on another network. You also cannot remove Homegroup, because it is embedded in the Windows code.
To help you out, take a deep breathe. What you are seeing is just a name that Windows or whatever hardware device that is, assigned to it for the Network name. To associate Network names with IP's, you can use IPScan. http://www.eusing.com/ipscan/free_ip_scanner.htm It will show IP, Workgroup, Host Name (that is what you are seeing in the Network. Commonly known as the device name also), along with MAC ID. You can specify the end range so that you do not see all 254 IP's scanned, even if a device is not associated with it. You can also use Advanced IP Scanner. Both are safe downloads, Advanced IP Scanner is a lot more user friendly. Advanced IP Scanner - Download Free Network Scanner.
