That will not work for the OP, since the printer was disco'd after Windows 2000, but Brother was able to make the driver work for XP & Vista. After that, it was no longer supported and there is no way that this dinosaur will work for the OP, even with CUPS, after I was able to do a little more research.

The OP needs to get an updated device and toss this one into the E-Cycle bin.

In business you need up to date printer and scanner
You can pick a brand new one up over here in UK for under £100
With Wi-Fi and a years supply of ink thrown in

I brought 6 months ago with my daughter or there about, 25 HP Envy Printer Scanner
Because we brought in bulk we got them for about £50 each
All Wi-Fi and all working with windows 10 also at the time a years supply of ink and paper
    Straight from HP themselves

Sharing Ql-570 works very well with 10 and descoverable.

The only bad iussue is that the 10's last buit has intruduced an unusefull feature that by default change the default printer (forcing users default).
This drive my user creazy with normal activity with network printer before I found that it can be switch off.

    WINDOWS DEFAULT MANAGE

Problem still there only for share printers and it is not a matter of drivers.

I hope MS will cut off this new feature.
Please MS manage your business not my printers. :)

Just need to stop this help not needed.

hTconeM9user, I ended up getting a Brother Laser HL-2280dw, since we only use Black ink and scan to fax a lot.

I got tired of buying Ink cartridges every 6 months after they sat and dried out from non use.

When my kids were in high school, they would constantly print stuff. Now that they are on their own, it sits more then used.

I did not realize when I got it that it did not do Airprint, so I got the Lantronix Home server, which I could have just spent what I paid for that on the next printer up.

I have done a simple test sharing a brand new fully win 10 compatible printer.
But the problem still there. That shows it is not a problem of old or new compatible printer.
Win 10 dont work well with shared printers and default manage.

For your info my dynosaurus ( only a simple label printer) uses an updated win 10 driver.

There is no problem with Windows 10 sharing printers. It has worked for everyone with no issue. Also for your old Label printer, there is no Windows 10 driver for it, because it was discontinued when XP came out.

I've got the exact same problem. We've always used a Dymo Labelwriter 450 turbo and 450 twin turbo on Windows XP. It used to work until the W10 update in October. On all computers the "Let Windows manage default printers" is set off.

What did you change in the registry to get it working?

    Same Issue

    Hi

I'm experiencing the same issue with Epson TM-T88iV shared receipt printers. The host machine's default printer is changed to the Epson after a client machine prints to it. Very annoying.

The Epson drivers have been updated to support Windows 10, (ver. 4.56E)

Many other people with shared printers are experiencing the same issue. See here.

Tremore - please let us know what registry changes you made!

    Thanks

I'm switching to Windows office from the home version. Also downgrading to 7 from 10. I've recently hired an IT company to help streamline my operation and this was their solution. Apparently Windows 8-10 is a disaster for networking.
