Automatically Mirror Files from Windows to a Network Drive

    I would use the embedded command line tool robocopy in combination with a scheduled task so it can run once a day maybe at login or at a specific time. The command would be something like:

    robocopy %userprofile% \\server\share /mir

    The first copy probably would take some time but after that it only copies the new files and files that have been changed. Files that are deleted on the source are also deleted on the destination directory, it makes an exact mirror of your source files.

    I'm surprised that Goodsync (File Sync Backup Software | GoodSync) is not mentioned. Very robust with lots of options for one-way or two-way sync.


    And never use MS's SyncToy. I used to use it until I discovered that it was creating duplicate files all over the place. It's not supported, obviously.

    I haven't had any of those issues with SyncToy. It's simple, easy to install, free, and just plain works.
