I had this happen after a fresh install on a friends laptop. All I did was pop the disc in, launch the installer and let it do an in-place upgrade. Its been fine ever since.

one or more (network) protocols missing : Solved Windows 10

    Dear All,
I had the same problem & was unable to connect to the Internet, I tried everything that I could but the problem remained as it was, thankfully I did the following thing & then the problem is solved.
This problem of missing protocol actually comes up with the latest updates of Windows 10, Microsoft should look after it immediately.
    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to control Panel
    2. Click on Programs (Uninstall a PROGRAM)
    3. then on the left corner click on View Installed Updates
    4. Finally Uninstall all the updates which were installed previously & restart ur system.

You will able to connect to the Internet & the Network.
    Thank You
Please revert back if you find this useful.

But will your system be secure, have other issues, etc ?

I installed the latest Windows Insider Build (11082) and have not had issues (fingers crossed).

    Similar problem! Please help!

Ok, so Windows forced update to 1511 two days ago now wireless doesn't work, troubleshooting says one or more network protocols missing, Detailed Info says windows sockets registry entries are missing. Tried to troubleshoot from suggestions off this forum- editing registry (netsh reset), to deleting winsock registries and installing the ones posted, but nothing worked.

I have work to do so it was really starting to freak me out, so I asked the host at the hotel I'm staying at if i could plug in the ethernet. When i did, ethernet works, then suddenly the wifi from that ethernet (ethernet cable was one of the cables coming out of the wifi box, not directly from the wall) works as well. However, it doesn't work for any other wifi still. I try to troubleshoot and it doesn't give me the same error message, just resets and says it can't figure out the problem... Any suggestions? Please? I really do have a lot of work that I want to get out of the way so I can enjoy my vacation...

Ha guys! Thanks for the Winsock fix! I accidently erased it and did not know if I would be able to fix it or not without a clean install. Thanks again for the help! Merry Christmas and Happy new year!

Many are experiencing same issue with Win10. Join the search for answer. :)

Some have tried the NetBIOS method in post #10. I did but it did not resolve slow internet issue. May want to review the entire thread for other info.
After upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Version 1511. Got dreaded one or more network Protocols missing. Had zero ability to connect to internet. Tried many solutions from all over the internet but nothing worked. Finally went to Intel's website, downloaded latest Windows Ten self extracting Network Adapter driver onto USB from another computer. Ran it on my new Asus 64 bit machine and everything came back to life. Driver file was Prowinx64.exe
    Thanks Intel !
