Thank you to all for the input on this thread, you have got me closer than any of the other fixes have been able to
I now have
two machines that can see and browse the other two PCs and one that can browse one but not the other
Previously two machines could see each other but neither could browse the third and the third could see but not browse anything except itself
As others have already said this is ridiculous, and the solution SHOULD have been to revert to an earlier version of the problem files rolled out as an "update" until the problem was fixed properly
Instead they seem to keep sending out updates that either do nothing to solve this problem, and in some cases actually make things worse for peoples whilst either not responding to the threads on the Microsoft site at all, or telling people to check drivers and spurious (and often unrelated) settings
At least now I can (mostly) use my three PCs although I will have to copy from PC 1 to PC 2 so I can then copy a file from PC 2 to PC 3 which is just nuts really.
But I think my problems now are related to homegroup as I have some ghost homegroup and some hidden file that lists PCs I haven't owned for years and a ghost homegroup that I cant seem to get rid of
But hopefully this will now be either easier or "possible" to fix after following your solutions to this problem
Many thanks and booooo Microsoft lol, if I wanted to be a beta tester I would have applied to be one, I don't expect to be one when I purchase a "finished" product :)
