After doing a clean install of Windows 10 and updating I began experiencing the same problem as everyone else, some of the solutions posted here worked temporarily, but the problem just returns. One thing I've noticed though was that though I couldn't load any web pages on any of the browsers I was using, I was able to access Bing search in Microsoft edge and get results, though I couldn't load the pages from the results listed. which tells me that I did have network access but only to Bing's Search. so I'm at a loss now.

How you can still have internet access when the protocols are missing is a mystery to me.
I just found that I can still access the internet even if all items have been unchecked in Properties of the Ethernet adapter in Network Connections.

Classic case of a faulty driver. First step, go at Device Manager, highlight your network adapter and hit DEL to uninstall it. Refresh or restart your PC and let Windows find the device again. If this doesn't work, in Device Manager manually replace the generic Microsoft driver with the latest official driver from manufacturer's support site. If this still doesn't work, try some of the suggestions in earlier posts in this thread.

For missing network protocols, you can find a lot of solutions online. There's multiple solutions because different protocols may show up through different methods. There are tools you can download (be wary and skeptical), then there's the "netcfg -d" command in command prompt that can fix the issue for you. You can also tweak your NetBIOS and Firewall or Antivirus to get it to work. There are more solutions you can find online, if these don't work. Most of the times the culprit is an incompatible driver. Just download and install latest driver and you should be OK. Always prefer official OEM drivers (even for earlier versions of Windows) over generic Microsoft drivers.

Problem trying to connect to internet on laptop, but all working as normal on desktop.

Investigations revealed....one or more Network Protocols are missing on this computer, also Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing....this on both Ethernet and wireless but they had been working perfectly since the update last week.

My laptop supposedly required "Internet connections Package Version 3.0 Publisher Microsoft Windows."

After messing about for an hour without success I loaded the 1511.. ISO.. knowing that I could not connect to the internet to download anything, this seemed to solve the problem, (fingers crossed) I can only assume this made the internet connection possible.
well if the investigation has revealed that you have one or more network protocols error then you could have tried to turn off your pc then switch it on again. there are more brief solutions that you can find out on internet...here's one that i got http://errorcodespro.com/fix-one-mor...dows-computer/
