windows 10 unidentified network on LAN/ethernet

    dear sir/ madame

i've been with this problem for months and i have tried multiple solutions offered by others on the internet, yet i'll give it another try here.

i'm using a powerline adapter directly plugged into the wall on my desktop. And it has worked excellent before, but suddenly someday it did not get a valid IP adress anymore for my pc, i have tried giving it an ip adress manually but without succes. i also tried updating the driver but there was no update.
my network and sharing center displays unidentified network and windows problem solver detects the problem 'network name' does not have a valid ip configuration.

thanks in advance for your help

Probably Windows Update replaced your LAN driver with generic Microsoft driver that is not 100% compatible with your hardware. Download latest LAN driver for your adapter (it doesn't need to be Windows 10, 7 & 8 should also work) and install it. If that works, then you must hide the driver update so it is not installed again.

Right click on the setup and select Properties. Then go to the Compatibility tab. Check the box to enable the list and select Windows 7 from the list. Also check the box to Run as Administrator. If doing that for current user still gives you errors, try doing it for all users. Last trick to try is to search for Device Manager. Open it, expand Network Adapters. Right-click on your adapter and select Update drivers. Then select last option every time until you see the Have Disk button. Click that and browse to the folder where you extracted the Windows 7 driver. Proceed to install the driver. Maybe you have to restart for changes to take effect.

Right-click on the file you downloaded to install the driver. If there are many files extracted to a folder, then you are looking for Setup or similar. Right-click on that and follow my instructions.

i tried downloading the network driver from qualcomm's site, but it doesnt show a setup file, it only is able to install if i go to the device's properties and then go to the 'drivers' tab and then look for drivers on pc.

Yes, some LAN drivers have only the INF file and some DLLs. You have to right-click on the adapter in Device Manager, select Update driver. Then select last option, next select last option again, until you see a Have disk button. Click on that and browse to the folder where you extracted the files.

Find another version. Which model it is? Try downloading directly from manufacturer.
