Lets see if I can get this to work

I also included the 2 pop-ups for a bit more information.

Hopefully you can make them a bit bigger.

    Not yet.

Just tried it and the IPv4 address and the Default Gateway both replied. The Subnet Mask failed which I sort of expected.

Try to ping 8.8.8.8 - it is default Google DNS. Also, try going to random site using it's IP adress (you can find it in ping output). If it works, it means you have DNS problem. Also, try telnet any site.

8.8.8.8 worked fine. At least I think so - it replied so I guess it found it. I tried using a random IP address from one of my previous sites that I had access but nothing.

Guess I better look up what a DNS problem means.

    Thanks.

    Hi Altproject,

I have put work to one side for a couple of minutes and played around with the PC. I now know what my Router name and IP address are. I pinged it and it worked fine. When I typed in the IP address in Edge, which I believe should allow me to log on to the router, nothing happens.
I tried the nslookup command for a couple of web sites and that worked without a problem.
Any ideas, hints or advice on my next steps?

    Cheers

All solved no. Turns out if had nothing to do with Windows.
My antivirus, AVG, managed to get its firewall knockers in a twist and blocked internet access completely. Stupidly, I never thought to check their site because there were any number of complaints about this issue. Poor customer service on the part of AVG to not notify their users of the issue. They have everyone's mail address and most people have alternate access to their mail accounts.
I was fortunate to find someone who was able to solve the issue and get me up and running again before I wasted hours reinstalling my OS from scratch. Who knows how many others have spent time and money trying to get it sorted.
