    remote desktop RDP

Hi, I've spent a whole day trying to be able to connect to a windows 10 home pc. I ticked the box in my computer properties remote tab that says allow remote connections to be made. There are no other options for me on this tab.

I then discovered Windows 10 home does not allow remote desktop which was annoying. So after lots of research I discovered RDP wrapper. Installed it, run rdpcheck which doesn't accept my login. Everything is running in RDP wrapper configuration.. all green, listening, fully supported etc. I type remote desktop connection on the search bar and that program shows up.

But I still can't access this windows home pc remotely. I've disabled, antivirus, windows local and external firewalls, everything I can think off that could be blocking it. Remote desktop client on my phone and other pc still fails to see this win home pc though.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in adv

Looks like making RDP work without RDP wrapper is not possible because home edition doesn't support it.

If you are trying to access the PC remotely over the internet using RDP the RDP port has to be open on the firewall and router. The default port is 3389

Why not simply use TeamViewer or VNC for remoting?

To remotely connect to a RDP server, you need to create a port mapping from your WAN to your LAN Server machine for TCP and UDP port 3389.

I suggest using an alternate port on the WEB side, as Port 3389 is one of the most sniffed, scanned, attacked and exploited... You can then connect on your server with MyHostName.MyDynamicDnsProvider.com:Port#

To connect locally to your server from your DNS name your router must support NAT hairpin or also call NAT reflector.

You can also restrict from your router the source IP allowed to connect to your server for increased security, Also having a real Windows pro give access to configure the minimal required security and encryption level of the server.

You have to run an update file to get rdpwrapper working in Home.

Also, you need a password on the remote drive which has same credentials as on host pc.

Did you mean "Windows 10 Home" edition PC? Remote desktop is not supported on Home edition.

Thanks, I looked at these but for the minimal time I'll be using remote connection it wasn't worth the cost

Well, since you are already using a software, why not use a Teamviewer software to simplify it for you?
