These are some details, I am currently using wifi, however I need to use ethernet, but the ethernet says it's unidentified, I have no idea what is going on...I haven't changed anything but two days ago my ethernet said it's unidentified and decided to give up on me, I have tried a ton of methods online that I have found so far and none have worked, this is why I have posted the above information.

    Addition

Additionally, I changed the 169 ethernet thing to 172 because I read somewhere that it could be a solution to my problem.

Make sure it isn't setup as a public network

    Hi Sean,
Download the driver from here and save it in desktop or wherever convenient for you to access, disable the Wi-Fi, install the downloaded driver, connect the Ethernet cable and reboot.

And you have messed up the IP address. It assume it should be in the same subnet as the wifi i.e 192.186.1.nn. The 169. one is an MS default if a network can't be found.
