No, Wireless or Wi-Fi is usually the connection between the Wireless Router and devices on the LAN. Wired is the other connection to the Router.does wireless mean no cable or satellite?
I use Wireless DSL at 25Mbps through a PoE Modem which can be connected to the Uplink port on a Router via Ethernet cable or directly to the Ethernet port on a computer. I have both Desktops and Notebooks connected Wired and Wireless to my Router.
Another choice in addition of what you listed is phone-line DSL, with the proliferation of cellphones some of the landline service is decreasing, mostly needed for the connected FAX machines.

T-Mobile in my area is cellphone service and can provide a mobile hotspot [type of device], uses the cell service to get the Internet. It works good but the downside can be less speed and maybe data caps on how much it can be used. And Yes, cellphone services have towers everywhere, even share antenna space with other companies on the towers.
So, the bottom line I have to have a cell phone contract to avoid the cable stuff and satellite, correct?
Thank you for your help
is the companies that offer Wi-Fi without the cable satellite stuff ?
Satellite doesn't use wires, obviously. It actually uses radio frequency (RF).
It's just "called" satellite because you need a satellite to make it work.
