    Strange intermittent networking issue

Hi Forum. I'm posting a thread here because I've already exhausted all things I could think of to solve my extremely weird issue. The thing is as follows: I have intermittent network outages in my network's main computer. Out of nowhere, network cuts off as if the network cable was unplugged. Most of the times, removing the cable and plugging it back in solves the issue, but sometimes it doesn't. I already replaced the Ethernet cable, the LAN adapter, the modem/router and the issue still persists, both with the onboard LAN and the new dedicated PCI-e adapter.

My Windows version is 1809 (Build 17763.107)

Do you have any suggestions to try to pinpoint the issue?

    Thanks in advance.

Can only suggest what I'd do. That Version 1809 is over 5 years old [Sept. 2018], a lot of things have changed in that span of time and the suggestion is to get fully up-to-date, latest version is 22H2. 22 = year H = Half and 2 = second half.

Check for updated network adapter drivers.
    Run SFC. SFC - TenForumsTutorials

Is there a particular reason you are on Version 1809?
It's been out of support for almost four years.

I'm now downloading the ISO for LTSC 22H2 version. I'll see if I can install the update in place, because reinstalling Windows from scratch along with the hundreds of programs and configurations is out of the question.

    Thanks for your reply.

No particular reason. Just the version the company got installed when I started working here and it hasn't been updated because it worked just fine until around two months ago when this weird issue started happening.

    When does it happen?
During all file transfers across the network?
During transfers of very large files across the network?
What exactly do you see happening & not happening?

Has the computer ever had a third-party anti-malware utility on it?
If so, was that utility's specialist removal tool run?

It happens randomly, usually when the network is idle. I notice it either because I can't connect to other machines on the network or by the yellow exclamation mark next to the network tray icon. I don't think the computer ever had an anti-malware tool, or at least not that I remember.

    Understood.
My thoughts about the possible influence of an improperly-uninstalled anti-malware utility are therefore not relevant. I've only known that to affect the transfer of large files while the transfer is happening.

    Best of luck,
