My understanding is that it is something that exists if you have installed SMB1, an old & not very secure networking component that is only required- if you have a 'network' disk connected to an SMB1-only router, orIf these conditions do not apply then there is no need for SMB1 and no such thing as a Master browser.
- if you have a non-Windows computer on your network, or
- if you have a Windows Vista or older Windows computer on your network.
I also have that NirSoft NetBScanner tool linked to above.
If I run it on each of my computers on my Windows10-Windows 11 network, it does not identify any Master browser, which is what I would expect.
Do note that
- you need to allow traffic from that utility through your firewall, and
- you need to set up the search range in its File menu, Scan options [I set mine as192.168.0.0 to 192.168.2.255]
Since you are able to access your shared folders by direct addressing & shortcuts, I assume that this discussion is now purely one of academic interest.
