win11 question ver 22h2 and the eero 6 router security

i now have win10 and my pcs are able to run win11. i know because i get a message telling me i can install it anytime. for now i decline but how long can i decline before i should think about installing it. i do not yet want to run it only because i just do not feel like learning a new OS now, but one day in the future i'm going to have to learn. so does anyone happen to know when we all will have to go with win11 to keep the security.

also on a side note but along the security. we have frontier fiber internet getting installed in our area. and i just went to their site and i can get it installed in a few weeks. for 30$ a month for 200 up 200 dn . however in the package they also want you to get things like whole home wifi and wifi secure that i think is the same stuff win10 gives us?

like Total shield helps protect your connected devices from viruses and malicious websites, along with VPN for online security. if it's connected, you're protected. Wi-Fi Secure helps protect connected devices on your network from online threats. Includes Wi-Fi controls, advanced parental controls and ad-free browsing.

so if win10 and win11 have this already then i can just decline those extras to keep the bill as low as possible. and they say they give you the amazon eero 6 wifi router. can i use my own router or is it easy to get into the eero 6 router to do things like port forwarding? i have cameras that i would have to be able to see on my phone and when away from home.

or maybe some how merge my netgear router to that eero 6 router.

anyway my main question is when might i have to install win11

Good to be thinking about Win11 but Win10 will continue to get Build updates until it's EOL/End Of Live or EOS/End Of Support on Oct. 14, 2025, as announced by Microsoft. Version 22H2 is the last Version Upgrade. The computer won't automatically die but will not get any security updates and who knows how long third-party software will last. As for fear of Win11, mostly for me it's a visual thing with some features moved around but it runs most programs now running on Win10. There is no 32-bit/x86 version of Win11.

thanks i have 2 alldocube pcs with win11 on them and i had a bit of a time getting them setup to behave close to win11. but i may just let it install soon just because i guess the faster i get it and just reset some of the areas to look like win10 i guess the better off i may be.

i bet all my program will run in win11 as like i said i do have 2 alldocube laptops that came with win11 and then i got 4 more laptops in the hp models and reinstalled win10 and now they are telling me i can put win11 on them anytime.

so is the security in win11 good enough so i would not need to get all those extra packages from frontier for security and viruses and malware? i had that once on comcast and they do not offer it anymore. i'm thinking frontier is offering that to help pad the accounts.

frontier is now ready in my area and at first the lowest package speed was 500/500 gbps for 40$ per month and now i see 200/200 gbps for 30$ per month so that is plenty fast for me being with comcast i get 75mbps and pay 120$ per month. anyway if win11 has the same security amd virus and malware protections then i would not have to pay the extra 10$ for security and 10$ per month for ad blockers being i have adp and ghostly and popup blockers and cookie controls now on chrome.

    thanks.

thanks i figured it did. but can anyone tell me if you have frontier fiber internet and use windows do you also get those extra security packages that frontier has? i'm thinking windows already has the same type of security already built into it as frontier wants you to pay extra for.

this is the lowest plan 200/200 gbps at 30$ and one of the extras is wifi secure If it's connected, you're protected. Wi-Fi Secure helps protect connected devices on your network from online threats. Includes Wi-Fi controls, advanced parental controls and ad-free browsing. 3$ i have adp ghostly i don't care for cookies from chrome

id protection for 10$ have that from the bank

Total shield helps protect your connected devices from viruses and malicious websites, along with VPN for online security. for 10$

it seems window has these protections built in or am i thinking wrong? like i said comcast use to have norton and then about 6 years ago stopped and when i asked they told me windows had it for free so they stopped offering it.

    thanks

I used Norton up until Symantec got into it and started getting rid of features I quit it. I've used AVG in the past but since Windows Defender/Microsoft Security has been good for me I just stay with it. With more and more companies merging with others or being bought out it does keep one wondering about.

ok that is kind of what i thought so i do not have to order all that extra packages with frontier fiver then i asked that a few years ago and some told me then that windows did that for free now. but i had to ask again just in case frontier was a bit different. i'm trying to pair some costs and if i was to get frontier for say 30$ and then add 3$ and 10$ and 10$ and again another 10$ i might as well stay with comcast. now i have to figure out that new rotuer they use the eero 6 mesh system. i think my netgear network will connect up to it ok, thanks
