    Network Discovery off over VPN

So I'm using OpenVPN to connect to my LAN resources. I see that whenever I'm connecting over VPN, I cannot see the resources of my LAN. This is apparently because that would require a Layer 2 connection and OpenVPN is a Layer 3 connection.

So is there a way to enable Network Discovery over VPN?

Yes that is because layer 2 and layer 3

layer 2 is local ip range
layer 3 is external ip range

You are connecting to a layer 3 ip your router which is routing your connection to any given layer 2 device therefore if you want to connect to other devices you do it in the same manner as you are doing with the current device.

There is no way for a layer 3 client to connect to a layer 2 device without using the router that i am aware of. You cannot resolve layer 2 ip ranges from your VPN client because it won't know without information from the router.

Basically what i mean is the VPN client does not hold the local ip's information so it does not know it needs the router to tell it that information.
