    Bluetooth Stopped pairing

On Monday my wireless headphones were working ok, on Tuesday they weren't . When I switch them on now, I still get the 'connected' message, but they no longer show up in the list of connected devices. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the Bluetooth adapter, re-installing the drivers, rolling back the drivers etc, and although i get the 'connected' and 'pairing' messages, they still don't appear on the list and are not working. Any suggestions, please? (There may have been an update installed on Monday night?)

Have you tried doing a reset on the physical headphones?

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just tried that, but no change.

Have you tried pairing the headset to a different device, have you cleared hidden items like the headset out of Device Manager in Control panel?

1 If your headphones are also paired with other devices then un-pair from those others even if the device claims to be able to cope with multiple pairings. Then proceed to step 2 and/or 3.

    2 Try going to
    Control panel, Devices & printers
then selecting & deleting the device in order to then re-pair.
That has worked me me several times.

3 If that does not work then unpair using
    Bluetooth command line tools
xzions link to Bluetooth command line tools - TenForums
    in order to then re-pair.
As you'll see in that thread, many people have raved about how effective these tools are.
    - When I've been forced to use them I've taken the simple option of un-pairing & then re-pairing all my Bluetooth devices
    Code:
    btpair -u
    - As you'll see in their instructions, you can use them to remove individual devices instead e.g.
    Code:
    btpair -u -n"Nokia 6300"
but I've never tried that. Others have, see
Remove just one Bluetooth device - DrNefario #83 - TenForums

    Best of luck,

Don't know if this will help but I use Bluetooth mice with most of my Notebooks and have noticed one can be shown as Paired but not as Connected. It sometimes requires removing a mouse and setting it up again, just takes a few minutes.

    Hi, Hi,
in regard to the Bluetooth Command line tools, can someone please explain the - "Install it, make sure you enable the option to "Add Bluetooth Command Line Tools directory to path" comment. I'm sorry but I don't understand it!

I've managed to connect and pair the headphones on my laptop and on someone else's desktop, which rules out some possible causes.

It's an option you are shown during installation.

If you missed that during installation, you could just open a command prompt window and change to the folder you installed the tools to.
Then you can use the tools just as if you had added their location to your Path variable anyway.
Path just tells Windows where to look for commands you type in and changing to the folder yourself instead is a perfectly viable choice.

    Best of luck,
    And thanks for the rep,

Thanks everyone, I've solved the problem, although I don't know what caused it!
While looking for something else, I found an old Nexus mini Bluetooth dongle. So on the off chance it might help, I uninstalled the old tp-link dongle and installed the Nexus dongle - and lo and behold everything is back to normal. But I still don't know what caused the tp-link dongle to fail, or if it can be recovered.
