Problem viewing shared folders from File Explorer navigation pane

We were dealing with this issue for years & recently found we had to enable SMB1 on all systems to get them to consistently show up in that navigation pane.

Update: I just discovered that I cannot access the shared folders on \\JUDY from \\FAMILYROOM OR \\JOHN.

Horsepilot: The shared folders are C:\Users\JUDY\Downloads and D:\Documents. (I changed the default location for Documents to a separate partition.)

Try3: When I set up the shares on \\JUDY, I don't recall using the default Sharing Wizard. Perhaps my best option now is to destroy these existing shares on \\JUDY and start again using the Wizard. Does that seem reasonable?

Your suggestion does logically appear to be a potential solution but I have no idea where I might access the 'Credentials' app. Could you please provide detailed instructions about where I can find such?

I appreciate that this is essentially Win 10 - which is the O/S on the PC I can't 'see' but I have to assume that there is a similar option in Win 11 (The new PCs are on this)

In all my years dealing with Windows PCs I can't say that I've ever seen [Credentials Manager] - just shows that there are parts of 'Windows' that get used infrequently :) - I've just found 4 entries on my Win 7 PC which I've never put there manually - mind you, theye don't make a great deal of sense yet.

It's a area that may need some investigation!

I've just reviewed the information in the link in post #13. Most of the detail is well known to me and the settings are already as I would expect.

It does seem that I might benefit from setting up a new user (ME) on each PC with my known - and identical - credentials. I was of the opinion that that would impose a selection for the main user. Am I to understand that even though [Jack] (say) is logged on the PC [A] if I were to seek access to that PC from PC [B] sharing would be allowed?

My own network has the same User/PW on all and during testing the new PCs were attached but without an account in my name set up. I must say that I have never encountered a network problem of this magnitude in 30+ years

I tried enabling SMB 1.0/CIFS Client as others have suggested, but that did not work for me. I have given up trying to view these shared folders on \\JUDY by using the file explorer navigation pane. However, I got around this annoyance by creating a network folder shortcut using the full address of the shared folder and placing that shortcut on my start page. When I click on that...BOOM...the shared folder opens and expands immediately.
