    Interrupt Router to Internet Connection

    Hi:

I want to temporarily interrupt the Internet traffic-communication from my Win10 Home DELL desktop. I have been doing this by unplugging and replugging the power connector plug at the Verizon router. I would prefer to accomplish this interruption of internet traffic without the unplugging/replugging wear & tear. It is okay to interrupt any and all internet traffic.

Is there a method to interrupt the router's communication with the Internet from the PC's keyboard?

Thanks in advance for reading this.

This doesn't make sense. You stated:

If that's what you want use something like:

    Download InternetOff - MajorGeeks

Then you asked a totally different question as if it was the same thing:

I guess log into router admin panel and see if there is that option. Really it's just easiest to switch off the router or disconnect Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable which is not the same thing as making your router "invisible" when it's still powered on.

Depending on your connection type turning router off may greatly reduce you speed as the connection as a fault and reduce speed to try and give a solid connection. You don't say how you connect but WiFi you can just hit disconnect or if cable pull network cable or edit connection and remove default gateway

Thank you @3nd for your recommended link.

After reading through 3 Ways To Turn Off Internet Access To Your Computer Quickly I tried the Net Disabler app, and that is working for me at this time.
I am not clear if this app is a trial app or not, but it is accomplishing my goal of disconnecting my computer from the Internet.

I had tried disabling two network adapters via Device Manager, but that did not work for me.

My thanks to all those that have written a reply. This problem is now solved.

    Ciao!

    Happy Holiday season to all.

I have done it by going into Device Manager and Disabling the device such as the Ethernet port and the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter, causes the computer to lose the Internet.

You could always just unplug your network cable...

Or use Peerblock and add this list to the block list. Only local traffic will be allowed through.

    Code:
    All:0.0.0.0-9.255.255.255
    All:11.0.0.0-172.15.255.255
    All:172.32.0.0-192.167.255.255
    All:192.169.0.0-223.255.255.255

or..... you can also login to the router and create a rule to block the machine/device for internet access.. Then just login to enable or disable the rule when you need to change it in the future.
