    Network Adapters gone missing

    Hardware: HP Envy notebook
OS: Windows 10 Home version 10.0.19045 build 19045

    Thanks for reading.

My notebook has started playing up recently, showing "no wifi connections available" and offering only Network and Internet Settings where before it used to show a list of available networks. I've dug out my old notebook which is accessing the internet perfectly well.

Troubleshooter reports only that the bluetooth network adapter is disabled.

Network Connections shows only the bluetooth adapter, nothing else.

Sometimes a power-down and power-up fixes the problem, but not this time.

In Device Manager, Network adapters shows:

    Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
    WAN Miniport (IKEv2)
    WAN Miniport (IP)
    WAN Miniport (IPv6)
    WAN Miniport (L2TP)
    WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)
    WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
    WAN Miniport (PPTP)
    WAN Miniport (SSTP)

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, HP offers a range of diagnostics.

May suggest you first try those?
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/help/hp...re-diagnostics

Its drivers page appears to be this:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers.../model/8942316

    - there are LAN drivers for both Realtek and Broadcom

Try e.g. Speccy (free) to find out which you have.

Thanks Dalchina. I was about to reply that I couldn't follow your advice because the affected notebook has no internet access, but I thought I should check first and found the internet to be running. I downloaded HP Support Assistant and ran an updates check, which instructed me to download and install Intel WLAN driver update. Fingers crossed it does the job. Thanks for taking the trouble to help.

Good- I was thinking that the site says:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows come pre-installed on new HP computers, if not on your computer, you can download it using the download button below:
    - or that you could download whatever's necessary on another PC if available. Should have said that for clarity.

Or it might be that your ethernet connection works.

Anyway, you've found a way forward...
