Again: What happens if you pick an mp3 file, rt click it, and click Cast?

Not a Windows or Youtube issue, it can be due to the content in the video is protected to not allow cast to other devices through the browser window or tab. What is the model of the Vizio tv and what version is the youtube app on it?

As there are many complaints, I'm pretty sure it's a Windows issue. I used it may times in the past without any problems. As Microsoft hasn't provided any fixes, I send a report to Youtube and asked what determines how/when the casting icon is displayed and what would prevent it from not displaying. Perhaps that will help me find an answer.

Never seen a cast icon on Youtube- you've not provided an example, so no idea what to look for.

You've ignored my post, so it's goodbye from me. Unsubscribed.

Since the icon isn't there, I can't provide a screenshot, however Google supplied one.

I tried from a laptop to cast YouTube on the Android TV and on an Android TV box, both work. I have the caster icon in the YouTube player. I have the latest build of Windows 10 (non-beta etc.), Chrome and all Android TV updates done.
It also works with edge browser.

Right. Mine was working up to a couple weeks ago. I suspect I did some kind of update or uninstalled something that broke it. I've tried but can't figure out what the problem is. I'd upgrade to Windows 11 but have Adobe CS6 which may be rendered useless if I upgrade. Being unable to cast is only an inconvenience. Still I'd like to get it to work again.

You should, if you haven't already done so, check the wifi on the computer and the TV, disconnect and/or delete it, restart the TV from the Android TV menu, restart the router. There is also in the Windows 10 settings the devices menu, look in there the TV must be detected and displayed, if not there is the option to redetect devices.

Both devices are on the same network. When I click the cast button in a browser (it doesn't matter which) no device is found. I think I narrowed down to the function discovery resource publication service. I've tried starting it but it will not start. I get error pop up, 0x80070005 access is denied> I can cast to the TV using my phone.

I've tried numerous fix to get the service started to no avail.

I stopped and disabled the function discovery resource publication service and then I can cast youtube to the android tv. So that's not the problem.

As you tried things on google without success and microsoft gave nothing as result. You should do a Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Before that in an administrator command prompt you can try these command lines:
    sfr /scannow
    And
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Edit: Try with a new profile to cast.
