There are various guides around on the 'net' that may help with that error message- have you tried any?

I'm not sure, how do I check?
Sorry if that is a ridiculous question, I've only very recently started trying to learn/understand computers more...

*** Just thought I'd add that I am trying to learn about VM's too and very recently (yesterday) downloaded and installed Kali Linux through VirtualBox. Not sure if this is necessary information but thought I would let you know. Would like to also add that, I have had a lot of issues with both of my laptops AND my phone recently and I'm worried it might have something to do with my wi-fi being hacked and/or compromised somehow as I don't see this as a 'coincidence'.

Go to command prompt and run ncpa.cpl. Make sure there is no adapter disabled. If so, right click and enable.

You may want to try and reset the network.

How to Reset Network Settings in Windows 10

No. Running Kali in a VM isn't going to cause this. Though, I suppose it's possible installing Virtual Box messed up the TCP/IP stack somehow. But it's doubtful.

I don't care for Virtual Box and instead use VMware Workstation Player which is also free.

Looks to me like V-box took over your lan, I would try resetting all your adapters
Reset Network Adapters in Windows 10

Did you change any virtual network settings in vbox, typically you just leave the settings as default which works for most people. If resetting your network adapters does not help I would find the virtual network switch setting and set it back to default. I do not use V-box so apart from running virtual machine's in VM-ware for over 20 so I have no idea what vbox calls their network manager settings.

If all else fails remove vbox completely and get your network running properly and then if you reinstall vbox just use all the default settings

by the way it looks like your WiFi adapter does have a working connection so if you disable every network card except WiFi you should have a connection.
