    Ethernet Adapter Not Found

Just did a fresh installation on a desktop PC. Everything seemed to proceed with no problems. BUT, my ethernet adapter cannot be found. I know it exists because it was working prior to the fresh installation. I will appreciate any advice.

With a fresh or clean install one should have Internet service so as to access updates, were there any messages about not having that? I haven't seen an install of Windows change the BIOS settings but newer computers may have a program that can do it. In Device Manager there should be a reference in Network Adapter to the Ethernet adapter/port and possibly to a Wireless adapter. The entry for Realtek is for the Ethernet port on my computer.

Thanks for the replies! I ended up looking at Device Manager and saw that the ethernet device was missing the driver. I had a disk for the Asus motherboard that came with the PC. Installed the driver and all is well.

Sometimes you have to be patient. After I install Windows I go to Windows Update and keep selecting Check for Updates until it can't find anymore. I might have to do that several times. Many times it will find drivers for the devices that weren't found during the regular Windows setup.
