Permission issues with network attached storage

    Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3693)

I just attached a drive to my Linksys router (WRT1900AC) for the first time. I configured the settings to provide access to my computers. Although I have not used it extensively, it looks like everything is working as it should. The problem is when I try to sync my PC drive to this drive attached to the router.

I am using the program FreeFileSync. I have been using it successfully to sync two other drives, but I am getting some errors when trying to mirror my PC drive to the USB drive on the router. I am getting errors like this.

For what it is worth, there is no "W:\My Documents\sync.ffs_lock" on either drive. I have no idea why it referenced a file that does not exist.

They seem to be related to permissions, but I am unable to change the permissions on the files on the network attached drive. I get access denied when I try to change them.

I am not good with permissions or these errors. Can someone help?

I am guessing it's trying to create a folder in my documents and can't my docs has special permission from above I assume it's trying to create a folder as a buffer you need to have connected with username password for that docs folder it may need to map the folder to get access

I have an update. I am still stuck, but through experimentation I can see my problem may have nothing to do with the FreeFileSync (FFS)software.

When I tried performing a sync the error dialog said it could not copy the file.

As a test, I closed FFS and went to File Explorer to attempt to copy the file manually from my local drive out to the network attached drive. I got this

So, even in Windows I get an error telling me folder access was denied. In reading on this error recommendations were to go to the folder properties>security

It was recommended that I add my computer to the "Groups or user names" list. I tried to find my PC on the list, but it could not find it.

This is where it may be simple for you, but not me at all. You have to remember this network drive is attached to a usb port of a Linksys WRT1900AC router that is being used for a wireless access point only. All network routing is done by the ATT gateway.

Is my inability to change permissions on this drive because it is a network attached drive? I could easily attach this drive to my PC if that would help in anyway.
