hi, I can't save my wifi network and have to enter the password every time. the system will not save the network, is there a DOS way of forcing this? please see images for more detail

This says you are already connected to it so that's why you cannot add it.
If you cannot save its security key then I suggest starting again by disconnecting from it then deleting its network profile from your computer.

One of the methods described in the tutorial is:-Settings,
Network,
WiFi,
Manage known networks,
<Select the network in question>,
Forget.
Network profiles are listed in the Registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles

thanks denis, this seems to be the right way to do it, can i delete all profiles as well as signatures as in image and start adding them anew?
If you look on the right-hand side, you'll see their names.
Both the Description entry & the ProfileName entry can help you understand what each one is.
I've only ever deleted specific ones but I suppose deleting all of them will do no harm. But make a new system image first just in case.
I do not know what you mean by "signatures".

thanks denis, regarding 'signatures' that is as per image in the network tree. i believe them to be connected to the profiles, but will leave them as is for now. i will make necessary backups prior to changes. i have also consulted @Brink's methods you have referred to and believe the registry deletion to be the most effective - i shall mark this thread as solved and if possible change the subject reference to DOS in order for inter alia the search algorithm to index it correctly.

I have no idea what might be in the Signatures Key.
