A so-called Router like the BT Home Hub 5/6 contains several functional parts.
Each part is configured separately from the Web interface as accessed from your Web Browser.
    1. A Modem (ADSL).
    2. Router (Ethernet and/or Wireless).
    3. Wireless Access point (Wireless hardware).
    4. Hardware firewall.

    1. Is the connection to your ISP.
    2. and 3. are your internal network.
    4. Separates Your internal network (LAN), from the Internet(WAN).

If the Modem is not connected you get is an indication in the Web page for the Internet connection.
In your case the BT Smart Hub Manager.

The other functional parts still work.
There are plenty of guides on YouTube e.g. Web admin interface of the BT Smart Hub (BT Home Hub 6) router. How do you turn off wifi? - YouTube

Thank you for the replys. For some unknown reason I could have checked with any of my old routers laying about before posting. I will do this first before unboxing the new router.

I am a person who wants to know how things will work before switching on, if that makes sense. I bought a printer about 6 years ago not used it yet because its from a manufacturer known for flaws in their printers, software etc.

I did purchase another brand printer about 3 years ago and then found the instruction book is over 500 pages all in English with the last 100 pages given to possible error codes that may occur.

If only by 2008 deskjet 3920 would work with Windows 10.

W10 has drivers for the HP Deskjet 3920. Plug it in, and check for new Windows updates.
