Cannot connect to internet
Update: I persevered with the restarts and internet access returned. I remain concerned about what might be causing this, and worried that it might happen again without being able to recover.
My HP Envy laptop is running Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, OS build 19045.3636.
Recently I've been encountering problems with the device occasionally freezing when waking up from sleep, not often enough to be annoying, and easily fixed by holding down the power button to force a reset.
On this occasion after a forced reset I found I had no internet access. Where the wifi icon normally shows up (bottom right) I have a globe icon. When I click on it, the pop-up window gives an option to turn flight mode on and off, where before it used to show a list of available connections. I can click on "Network & Internet settings" which takes me to a page showing "Not connected" and gives me the option to Troubleshoot. The Troubleshooter fails to identify the problem. There is an option for "Network reset" which reset the device after five minutes, but still no internet access.
I fired up a spare laptop to check for internet access and it works, allowing me to log on to this forum.
If anybody can advise me on how to recover internet access on my main machine it would be greatly appreciated.
